Big Island Wellness Solutions (BIWS) was formed in 2008 with one simple vision: to help ensure the wellness of the Hawaii Island community. BIWS founders sought to create an incubator kitchen for small and starter business use, educational porgrams for children and adults, and to continue the tradition of volunteerism in our communities.

 

Big Island Wellness Solutions opened doors to its home facility, "The Kitchen", in Hilo in 2011. We currently serve as a Department of Health certified kitchen available to rent by the public.

 

The Big Island Wellness Solutions Community Outreach Program includes 3 ongoing educational projects:

• “Hawaii Healthy Me” Children’s Funbook Distribution Project

• Hawaii Island Community Small Business Resource Project

• Vocational Training and Assistance Project

 

Hawaii Healthy Me is a nutrition education funbook, that teaches people of all ages how we eat healthy in Hawaii.

 

The Community Small Business Resource and Vocational Training and Assistance Projects are for the purpose of assisting individuals with small and startup culinary based businesses by providing resources for free or low user cost, including facility, equipment, and educational access.
